The short version
OG Link Preview does not collect, store, transmit, or share any data about you or your browsing. Everything the extension does happens entirely on your device.
What we collect
Nothing. OG Link Preview collects no personal information, no usage data, and no analytics of any kind.
The extension reads Open Graph and Twitter Card meta tags from the currently active browser tab when you click the extension icon. This data is used only to display previews and validation results within the popup. It is never stored, logged, or sent anywhere.
Permissions explained
OG Link Preview requests the following browser permissions, and only for the reasons listed:
- activeTab — to read meta tags from the current page when you click the icon. We only access the tab you're actively viewing, and only when triggered by you.
- scripting — to inject a small script that extracts meta tags from the page's DOM. No scripts are injected without your direct action.
- <all_urls> — so the extension can work on any website, including localhost and staging environments. No browsing history is recorded.
Third-party services
OG Link Preview does not communicate with any third-party servers or services. There are no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting tools, and no advertising integrations.
Data storage
The extension stores no data locally, in browser storage, or in any external database. Each time you open the popup, it reads the current page fresh and displays results immediately — nothing is retained after the popup closes.
Children's privacy
OG Link Preview is a developer tool not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 13.
Changes to this policy
If we ever update this policy, the revised version will be posted here with an updated date. Given the nature of this extension — no data collection — we don't anticipate material changes.
